As one of the most celebrated television series today, it was inevitable that Game of Thrones would introduce more than a few familiar faces throughout the seasons. From music stars to renowned actors/actresses, we can imagine a choir of squeals marked their appearance from individuals all across the nation, not to mention further afield.
If, however, you’re familiar with the heavy metal music industry, you will, of course, have noted Mastodon’s appearance in episode eight, season five, where three members were introduced to the set as “wildlings”, according to SMH. Following their no less than vicious deaths, they came back as White Walkers.
Commenting on their appearance, Brann Dailor said: “I watched my best friends Brent, and Bill murdered right in front of me as I myself was stabbed in the stomach and had my throat slit multiple times, and I didn’t mind at all.”
“It made me love being in Mastodon even more.”
The members also mentioned how they loved “hanging around the set” and that they felt privileged to be a part of the show.
As mentioned though, these heavy metal stars are by no means the only celebrities to grace the Game of Thrones’ set as cameos, as Will Champion, a drummer for band Coldplay, was also noticed by a fair few fans in season three.
In fact, even President George W. Bush (well, a replica made of wax, that is) was featured on the show as part of the grand finale for the first-ever season.
Of course, we are all excited to see what other stars pop up in the episodes to come; don’t forget to share with us what stars you see!
